Interview with Blogger Cheryl

Cheryl runs Gwyneiira’s Book Blog alongside her friend, and they post everything from reviews to promos to giveaways. If you’re looking for a great blog to find giveaways and upcoming novels, definitely check hers out.

Tell us a little about you and your blog. Where can we find it?

Hello! My name is Cheryl, 20 this year, and I run Gwyneiira’s Book Blog with my co-blogger, Jessie. I studied Music and Audio Technology but decided to change over to books. I’m hoping to go into editing. I blog, I review, I read, I bake, I sing and I write songs. I love all things Disney, Harry Potter and fairytale. I have an obsession with snow, pizza, fruit juices and dogs.
Gwyneiira means as white as snow or snow white, “Gwyn” is welsh for white and “Eira” is welsh for snow. Gwyneiira’s Book Blog specialises in all things romance and erotica. We do reviews, promos, spotlights, giveaways and takeovers. We also provide editing services and PA services, and as we are still starting out with such services, our charges are reasonable and affordable. We do a lot more mingling and chatting over at our facebook page 🙂

How frequently are m/m reviews posted?

Mmm, I post M/M reviews once I am done reading a M/M romance or if I sign up for a M/M tour. I try to read at least one a month but I do read a whole lot of Harry Potter fanfics which are M/M. So if you want some suggestions, just hit me up. It’s mainly because I don’t really come across a lot of M/M romances that tempt me into reading them.

What made you passionate about reading and reviewing m/m books?

I love to read. Books are magical, they take you away to a whole new world. A world that authors have painstakingly build word by word. For M/M books, what can be more delicious than watching or reading about 2 males (especially alpha males) getting down and dirty? Plus I find M/M romances super duper cute. Squee moments! I judge (it’s hard not to) but I don’t convict, love is love no matter what.

When did you first start blogging?

I started up Gwyneiira this January as a form of escape from life, bullying and a whole lot of bullshit. I also wanted to spread my love of books and authors, and talk about what I enjoy and love about each book that I read. None of my close friends like to read romance so it gets a little lonely sometimes.

Many of my readers love reading m/m blogs. What makes yours unique compared to others?

I do gif reviews along with certain scenes from the book that catches my attention to make the book much more tempting for those who are curious about the book. We specialise in all things romance and erotica, not just M/M romances. So if you want a good mix instead of just M/M romances, then do check us out. That aside, we run both a blog and our facebook page. The blog is mainly for reviews, spotlights and whatsoever while we interact with our followers a lot more over at the facebook page.

What are some m/m books that you’d consider the best you’ve read all year?

Definitely Unequaled and Unattainable from Charity Parkerson’s No Rival series. Hands down the best m/m books I’ve read this year. All equally strong, charismatic and alpha males. You can check out my reviews below.
There is also a Harry Potter creature fic called Rise Of The Drackens by Starlight_Mass. She writes fabulously!

What would you like to see more of in m/m literature that you don’t see now?

Mmm. More cute, sweet moments I guess. Maybe scenes where we see them adopting a child and fawning over them, and going all “loads shotgun you better stay away from my baby”.

Do your readers prefer excerpts, interviews, cover reveals or reviews?

That is one question I’d like to know as well. Personally, I like fun/interesting reviews along with excerpts. Or spotlights and promos that comes with teasers and excerpts. It makes the book more tempting. I do enjoy interviews when they are about my favourite authors 😀 Or maybe character interviews, those are interesting as it allows us into the character’s head.

Jamie Lake is the author of Bad Boy: Naughty at Night and other m/m gay romance novels.
